Black Tea

Botanical Name: Camellia sinensis

Origin: Native to China; also grown in India, Sri Lanka, Kenya, and other subtropical regions

A Timeless Brew Steeped in Rich History

Black Tea is a fully oxidized tea made from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. It is celebrated for its robust flavor, deep amber hue, and energizing properties. As one of the world’s most consumed beverages, black tea has long held a place in both ancient rituals and modern tea culture.

History of Black Tea

The origins of black tea trace back to 17th century China, where it was first produced in the Fujian province as “Lapsang Souchong” — a tea noted for its smoky flavor. Unlike green tea, black tea undergoes full oxidation, which gives it a darker color and bolder taste.

As tea gained global popularity, black tea became a major export to Europe and was central to events like the Boston Tea Party, making it a key player in global history and trade. Today, black tea is produced in many parts of the world, with Darjeeling, Assam, Ceylon, and Kenyan teas each offering unique flavor profiles influenced by their regional terroirs.

Different Uses of Black Tea

  •         Daily Beverage – A staple for morning routines, black tea is appreciated for its smooth strength and natural caffeine, offering a balanced energy boost.
  •        Culinary Ingredient – Black tea is used in baking, marinating meats, and even as a flavoring in broths and sauces.
  •        Skincare – Used in DIY facial toners or compresses, black tea may help reduce puffiness and tighten skin due to its tannin content.
  •        Bath Soaks – Brewed black tea can be added to a warm bath to revitalize the skin and soothe tired muscles.
  •         Hair Rinse – Known to enhance shine and strengthen hair, a black tea rinse can reduce shedding and promote scalp health.
  •         Cold Brew & Iced Tea – Its bold flavor makes it ideal for iced tea recipes, especially when blended with citrus or herbs.

Usage Instructions: Use 1 teaspoon of loose-leaf tea per one cup. For stronger tea, use more then 1 teaspoon. For milder tea, use less then 1 teaspoon.

Steep your tea in hot water with the following estimated guidelines:

·         Black Tea: 3-5 minutes at 100°C

·         Green Tea: 2-3 minutes at 80°C

·         Herbal Tea: 5-7 minutes at 100° C

Remove the steeped tea leaves from your hot water and enjoy. You can also bag the tea yourself (Sold Separately) or use a tea strainer (Sold Separately) for ease of removing the loose leave tea. Try different quantities to make the perfect cup of tea for yourself.
